TCAC invites Tehama County artists of all disciplines to submit copies of original artwork or photographs to be used on the TCAC website, especially on the main pages and headers.

Submissions may be sent via e-mail to TCAC at tehamaarts@yahoo.com by Friday, July 9.

Blue Cat Studio will select images to be used on the site from those submitted to TCAC. Please submit your image in .jpg or PhotoShop formats, sized to 4 inches by 3 inches at 72 DPI.

All images must be accompanied by the Artist Release form found at http://tehamaarts.wordpress.com (below), or by request to tehamaarts@yahoo.com. The form is available in PDF. Use of images cannot be considered without the artist’s release.

Artist Release

The Artist identified below (“Artist”) seeks to display artwork, performance, music, and/or other materials (“Artwork”) that he/she has created and submitted for use on the Tehama County Arts Counsel’s website.  In addition, there is no payment to me, my heirs or assigns for use of my Artwork.

The TCAC reserves the right to select this artwork to be displayed on the home page of the TCAC web site at www.tehamaarts.org.  The TCAC has the right to change an image size.

The Artist warrants and represents that he or she is the sole legal owner of all right, title and interest in all Artwork, including all related intellectual property interests such as trademarks and the sole and exclusive copyright in all artwork, and has the full right and authority to enter this Agreement and grant the rights granted in this Agreement.

The Artist also warrants and represents that the display of the Artwork on the TCAC website does not and will not infringe or violate the rights of any other party, including any copyright interests. The Artist shall indemnify, defend and hold the TCAC harmless from any losses, claims, damages, awards, penalties or injuries incurred, including reasonable attorney’s fees, which arise from any claim by any third party of an alleged infringement of copyright or any other property right arising out of the display of the Artwork. The Artist understands that the display of the Artwork on the TCAC website is subject to the sole discretion of the TCAC and any or all of the Artwork may be immediately removed from the TCAC website at the sole and exclusive discretion of the TCAC.

The Artist grants to the TCAC a nonexclusive, royalty free, perpetual license to display the Artwork on the TCAC website. This license and permission to display the Artwork on the TCAC website may be revoked at the sole discretion of the Artist upon written notification to the TCAC. The TCAC will remove the Artwork from the TCAC website within a reasonable time after receipt of written notice from the Artist.

REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL – WEBSITE REDESIGN AND UPDATE

The Tehama County Arts Council invites proposals to redesign its website, http://www.tehamaarts.org

Qualified vendors interested in being considered for this project should send a written proposal mailed to Tehama County Arts Council, PO Box 1201 , Red Bluff, CA 96080. Vendor proposals must be received by 5pm, Tuesday, June 1, 2010. Proposals may be e-mailed to tehamaarts@yahoo.com.

Proposals should include an outline of the process and cost to redesign and rebuild the website that may be updated (simple changes to text and/or photo uploading) by TCAC designated member(s) using a content management program that will easily enable that process with a minimum of training and expense.

The proposal should include costs for:

• Redesigning some of the existing pages (others will no longer be necessary);
• Incorporating a widget for Zoomaru (http://www.zoomaru.net/) to replace the current calendar page;
• Linking Sierra Nevada Regional Artist Registry (http://registry.sierranevadaartsalliance.org/)

to replace the current Artist Referral Service;

• Setting up Paypal for dues payment;
• Writing for additional or existing pages, if needed,
• Training for designated Board members,
• Incorporating a content management program into the TCAC website,
• The cost per hour for enhancements and additions to the website once it is up and operating, plus

• A project timeline,
• A list of at least three existing websites built and designed by the vendor,
• Three references, and
• A resume

Key elements to be addressed in the proposal are:

Graphic Design – Visual impact and look of the pages, unique designs for different levels of pages, look of button and other navigation tools. (Some pages we like: http://www.placerarts.org/, http://www.sierranevadaartsalliance.org/)

Information Architecture – Organization of information, user ease and ability to find information, search functions

Content Management System – Ease of maintenance by TCAC is essential. As indicated above, content from Zoomaru and the Artist Registry will comprise a large part of the site, with a designated Board member acting as administrator.

Sponsored by the Tehama County Arts Council, the event includes more than 70 artists featured at 24 participating locations/businesses located within walking distance of downtown Red Bluff. It is held in conjunction with the Downtown Red Bluff Business Association’s holiday open house. The different venues feature artist exhibits and are identified by a purple Art Walk flag in front of the business.

All locations will host artist receptions from 5-9 p.m. Friday evening featuring food, and in many venues, wine tasting and music. Map brochures are available from any participating location.

The route ranges from the historic State Theater on Oak St. to the House of Design on Jefferson. Participating venues include The Big Picture, CrystalArt & Apparel, Countryside Café, Prairie Rose, Heartfelt Design Gallery, End of the Trail, Discover Earth, Business Connections, Gayle’s Casual Clothes, California Kitchen & Company, Rio Skin and Body Works, Carmona’s, Dale’s Carpet and Design, Red Bluff Interiors, The Gold Exchange, Montana Morrison Art Gallery, Lilia’s Beauty, Dandy Lions Children’s Shop, Two Foxes Shop, House of Design, Plum Crazy Hair Design & Boutique, the State Theatre, the Kramer Building, and We Shoot Ya Photography.

The event is free and open to the public. Art may be viewed from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on Saturday.

The Tehama County Arts Council works to promote and develop the arts through sponsorship and encouragement of performing and visual art organizations. Membership is open to everyone and begins at just $10 annually for students and seniors. But what is really great is how so many people come to downtown and walk up and down, dipping into each venue to see the art, sample food, and talk with the artists. It brings people together to celebrate the creativity in this county.

Create your own art — share it with someone — and tell someone about the arts in Tehama County.

All artists are students of Wes Hendricks and have been learning their skills in his class throughout the year. The show will run from May 2 through July and will be accessible to the public whenever the theatre is open.

A special reception, hosted by the TCAC, will be held May 2 from 5-8:00 p.m. at the State Theatre. The public is invited to come see art from our county’s young artists.

The artists and TCAC wish to thank the Big Picture for providing framing for the show.

The Tehama County Arts Council is sponsoring a free youth audition workshop on Saturday, April 12, at the Department of Education, 1135 Lincoln Street. This is an opportunity for all youth to learn and practice auditioning techniques with help from seasoned performers. No pre-registration is necessary – simply show up prepared to have some fun. Grades 7-12 sessions are at 10 AM and grades K-6 are at 11:30 AM. All youth are welcome.

Youth can apply the tips learned in this workshop when auditioning for this year’s Missoula Children’s Theatre production of The Wiz of the West.

Auditions are 3:30 PM Monday, April 21,t at Vista Middle School. Approximately 50-60 youth, grades K-12, will be cast in this full-scale theatrical production.

Auditions for The Wiz of the West will be at 3:30 p.m. Monday, April 21, at Vista School Gymnasium, 1770 S. Jackson, Red Bluff.

ALL Tehama County students from kindergarten through 12th grade are encouraged to audition! About 60 students will be cast, with several more working as assistant directors. It’s free to participate — all costumes are provided.

What’s the story?

THE WIZ OF THE WEST is the the classic story of THE WIZARD OF OZ, but with a twist…or should we say, twister?!

Follow Tinhorn, Lionel, Scared Crow, Dotty and, of course, her little dog Mooch through a saga of Western adventure and personal discovery.

First they tangle with Mad Dog’s gang of bad, barkin’, back-bitin’ hounds who work for the meanest old witch in the West, Hawknose Halley. Then they encounter the brainless Buzzards and the terrifying Tarantulas.

The singin’ Coyotes help move things along while Ma and Pa Munch and the rest of the Munch Kin point out the way to Dr. Ozzy, the Wizard of Frontier Medicine. Which way is that? Why Westward, o’ course! THE WIZ OF THE WEST…a fairy tale with a twang!

When will it be performed?

Performances will be Saturday, April 26, at 3 and 7 p.m. at the State Theatre, 333 Oak St., Red Bluff. Admission is $8 adults, $6 students, and $4 children 12 and under with an adult.

It’s in Corning at Rolling Hills Casino starting on Friday, Feb. 29, at 4 p.m. until 9; then continuing on Saturday, March 1, from noon-9.

You’ll find the Tehama County Photo Club with lots of wonderful, interesting photos for sale, including both framed and matted prints. Meet members of the club and talk to them about photography.

See the Red Bluff Art Association’s new exhibit panels, thanks to a grant from the Shasta Regional Community Foundation, and enjoy the lovely artwork hung on them, created by their talented members. 

 Sip wine from a baker’s dozen of area wineries. Sample olives, olive oils, savory fresh bread, and a buffet of goodies from the casino’s talented kitchen.

 Foodies will love the demonstrations; musicians will hark to the music throughout the event. Everyone can rock on to the band Cottonwood on Saturday night, beginning at 7 p.m.

 Tickets are $8 at the door; $5 in advance from the casino, Premier West Community banks in Corning, Chico, and Red Bluff, and Butte Community Bank, plus the Corning Chamber of Commerce. Food and wine tickets are $1 each — so if you want just food, no wine thanks, you’re not paying for it with the price of admission! Or come see the art alone and know that your donation goes to a good cause — the Corning Rotary Club uses all the proceeds to help local kids’ programs. (and they give a dictionary to every third grader in the area…)
